RAWS was delighted to work with Edinburgh Napier University MA student Gianni Mastrangioli Salazar on this short documentary.
"Hunting Redemption" is a twenty-minute-long docudrama about the history of the Scottish witch-hunts and its relevance to academic debates surrounding gender equality in Scotland.
It aims to change the perceived nature of witches from the medieval notion that they were diabolic and lustful to the modern image of them as ordinary folks. It also highlights the disparity in numbers between the accused women and men as well as the sociocultural dynamics associated with it.
It features interviews with writer & activist Sara Sheridan, historian Dr Ciaran Jones, and RAWS steering group member Juliana Morrell.
